Privacy Policy for SquirreList

Welcome to SquirreList, a playful to-do list app to help you "harvest your tasks" with Amrita the squirrel! This Privacy Policy explains how the 4EyesLearning Team ("we," "us," or "our") collects, uses, shares, and protects your information when you use our mobile application for iOS and Android ("App") and our website. We are committed to safeguarding your privacy.

1. Information We Collect

We collect only the data needed to run SquirreList.

Information you give us

• Account information: Your email address and display name. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we also receive your profile photo URL from that provider (Apple may give us a private relay email instead of your real one).
• Profile photo: If you choose to upload an avatar, the photo you pick from your camera or photo library is uploaded and stored. We only access your camera or photos when you choose to change your avatar.
• Content you create: Tasks, checklists, tags, task groups (Work, Personal, Exercise), repeat schedules, task status, and your streak and completion history.

Information created when you use the App

• User ID: A unique account identifier created by Firebase Authentication, used to link your data to your account.
• Focus time: How long the focus timer ran for a task, used for the Day Summary.
• Task move history: When a task is moved to another day by you or by the Squirrel assistant, we store the original day, who moved it, and when, so the move can be undone.
• Squirrel settings: The squirrel voice personality you pick, whether the Squirrel assistant and the end-of-day summary are turned on, the summary time, and the last day the assistant offered help. These are saved to your account so they follow you to your other devices.
• Usage data (Firebase Analytics): Events about how the Squirrel features are used, for example that the assistant was shown, which option was picked (optimize, postpone, or dismiss) and whether it was picked by tap or by voice, that a move was undone, that the Day Summary or one of its tabs was opened, and which voice personality was chosen. Some events include numbers such as the predicted chance of finishing the day or the count of planned and finished tasks. Events never include the titles or notes of your tasks or what you say, and we do not link them to your name, email, or account ID. Firebase Analytics also records an app-instance identifier, device model, operating system, app version, language, and an approximate region (country or city) derived from your IP address.
• Crash and diagnostic data: If the App crashes, a crash report (device model, OS version, app version, a crash identifier, and technical details of the error) may be sent to Firebase Crashlytics so we can fix bugs.

Voice features

• Squirrel voice (text-to-speech): Amrita reads short lines aloud using your device's built-in text-to-speech engine. The App sends no recordings to us. You can turn the voice off with the sound switch in Settings.
• Voice commands (speech recognition): In the Squirrel assistant you can tap the microphone and say what you want, for example "optimize my list" or "move to tomorrow". The App uses the microphone only during a short listening session (up to 6 seconds) that starts when you tap the microphone. Your speech is turned into text by your device's speech recognition service, which may process the audio on Apple's servers (iOS) or Google's servers (Android) under their own privacy policies. The App receives only the text, uses it on your device to pick the matching action, and then discards it. We do not record, store, or receive your voice or the text of what you said. Voice commands are optional: every action is also available as a button.

Information that stays on your device

Some data is used only on your device and is never sent to us, for example language and theme preferences, the sound switch, reminder and end-of-day summary schedules (delivered as local notifications), the data shown in the home-screen widget, and the Squirrel assistant's prediction of how likely you are to finish your day (calculated on your device from your task history).

We do not collect your precise location, contacts, health data, or browsing history. We do not use the advertising identifier (IDFA on iOS or the Android advertising ID), and we do not track you across other companies' apps or websites.

2. Device Permissions

The App asks for a permission only when a feature needs it. You can change these permissions at any time in your device settings; the rest of the App keeps working.

• Notifications: Task reminders, streak reminders, and the end-of-day summary.
• Camera and photos: Only when you take or pick a new avatar. On Android the App uses the system photo picker and does not get access to your photo library.
• Microphone and speech recognition: Only when you tap the microphone in the Squirrel assistant (see Voice features).

3. How We Use Your Information

We use your data only to:

• Create and secure your account, including sending one-time verification codes to your email.
• Provide core features: storing and syncing your tasks across devices, streaks, reminders, daily repeating tasks, and the home-screen widget.
• Provide the Squirrel features: the voice personality, the assistant that notices a busy day and suggests moving tasks, voice commands, and the Day Summary with completion and balance between task groups.
• Show your name and avatar in the App.
• Understand which features are useful and improve them (usage data), and detect and fix crashes and bugs.
• Respond to you when you contact us.

We process your data to provide the App you asked for, with your consent where a device permission is needed, and in our legitimate interest in keeping the App working and improving it. We do not use your data for advertising, we do not sell it, and we do not use your tasks or voice to train artificial intelligence models.

4. Advertising

SquirreList currently contains no ads and includes no advertising SDKs. If this ever changes, we will update this policy before the change is released.

5. Service Providers

We do not sell or rent your data. We share it only with service providers that help us run the App, which process it on our behalf and are required to protect it:

• Firebase (Google): Authentication, database (Cloud Firestore), file storage for avatars, Cloud Functions, Remote Config (to check for required app updates and tune the Squirrel assistant), Analytics, and Crashlytics. See Firebase Privacy and Security and Google's Privacy Policy.
• Google Sign-In and Sign in with Apple: If you choose them to log in. See Google's Privacy Policy and Apple's Privacy Policy.
• Speech recognition by Apple or Google: Only when you use voice commands, provided by your device's operating system (see Voice features).
• Email verification service: Your email address is passed to an email delivery service only to send you a one-time verification code.
• Legal requirements: We may disclose information if required by law or to protect our rights and users.

6. Children's Privacy

SquirreList is not intended for children under 13. We do not knowingly collect data from children under 13. If we discover such data, we will delete it promptly. Parents can contact us for assistance.

7. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored on Google Firebase servers, which may be located outside your country, including in the United States. Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and at rest by Firebase, and access to your account data is limited by security rules to your own account. We take reasonable measures to safeguard your information, but no system is fully secure. Please notify us if you suspect a security issue.

8. Data Retention

• Account data and content: Kept for as long as your account exists, then deleted as described in Section 9.
• Usage data: Kept by Firebase Analytics for at most 14 months, then deleted automatically.
• Crash reports: Deleted automatically by Firebase Crashlytics after 90 days.
• Data on your device: Removed when you sign out (reminders and widget data) or uninstall the App.

9. Deleting Your Account and Data

You can delete your account at any time directly in the App: Profile → Delete account. This permanently deletes your account, tasks (including their groups, focus time, and move history), checklists, tags, repeat schedules, streak history, profile information, Squirrel settings, and uploaded profile photo, and cancels the reminders scheduled on that device.

If you can no longer access the App, email us at support@4eyeslearning.com from the email address linked to your account with the subject "SquirreList account deletion request". We will delete your account and all associated data within 30 days. Usage data and crash reports are not linked to your account and are deleted automatically as described in Section 8.

10. Your Rights

Depending on where you live, you have the right to:

• Access or update your personal information (your name, avatar, and Squirrel settings can be edited in the App).
• Request a copy of your data.
• Delete your account and all associated data (see Section 9).
• Withdraw consent for a device permission at any time in your device settings, and object to or ask us to restrict how we process your data.
• Complain to your local data protection authority.

To exercise these rights, contact us at support@4eyeslearning.com. We will reply within 30 days.

11. Third-Party Links

Our App and website may link to third-party services. We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please review their policies.

12. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy, for example when we add a feature. Changes will be posted here with an updated "Last Updated" date.
